Puerto de San Miguel

Medium sized, deep, curved natural sand beach, protected by pine covered surrounding hills delightful for walks if you don't mind the climb. A good place to relax after your visit to the caves of Can Marça, where you will be transported back in time to retrace the ancient footsteps of infamous smugglers of bygone days (see below). No shady areas on the beach so take cover ups. The two hotels built into the rocks are unique on the Island. Although there are a few large hotels situated around the bay of San Miguel, this little village does not really qualify as a resort. There are some good restaurants and a few bars, but no shops (apart from souvenir and beach-wear). There is an automatic cash-point. Buses run regularly to the town of San Miguel, 5 km to the south. The access roads are steep and the first, Xarraca, has a larger sandy beach than the second tiny one at S'illot. This entire area is ideal for adventure walks. There is a mud bath with healing properties around to the left of the Xarraca beach, so don't be afraid to get yourself dirty and rejuvenate your skin.

Cala de Portinatx

One of Ibiza's best known beauty spots, Portinatx is a popular stop on the Round The Island excursion. The bay offers magnificent panoramic views, crystalline clear water, high, rocky shorelines and a seabed of fine, white sand. There are three good, sandy beaches in this area, offering a variety of activities. The largest is in the Bay across from the main Coach Park, S'Arenal Gros; little S'Arenal Petit, which is more private, is around the corner from the rocky promontory to the left. The third is Playa Porto Beach, surrounded by little pineclad hillocks, it is in a little cove at the end of the main road.
Services: Pedaloes, Windsurf School, Diving School.
Access: Reached only by car or bus, well signposted.

Cala de San Vicente

This 400 m long beach forms a curve of sand with clear shallow waters, safe for children. Palm trees on the small traffic-free promenade and beachside cafe seating overlook an interesting bay. The gently sloping surrounding pineclad hills are good for adventure walks in this quiet part of the Island. Infrequent Bus or car. The road leading in from the south offers fabulous views of the whole bay, and is a favourite for holiday snaps.
Services: Pedaloes, windsurf school, banana boat.
Access: Reached by car or bus, well signposted.
xucla

Cala Xuclá

Set in a small cove this has to be one of the last get-away-from-it-all beachlets on the island. A very small beach, the clearest of water, fishermans' huts, food from a tiny kiosk with peace & tranquility in a timeless other world. Good area for walkers. The access road is steep.
Services: Pedaloes and relaxation!
Access: Reached only by car on the road to Portinatx.

Cala de Benirrás

A small bay with pine covered surrounding hills. Beautiful sandy beach with rocks either side. Good for snorkellers. The surrounding hills are perfect for long walks. The sheltered bay is a popular anchoring spot for private yachts and motor boats, who often gather there to enjoy the romantic sundown. If you are lucky you will be witness to an 'unplugged' concert of local drummers and guitarists, who herald in the beautiful sunsets.
Services: Pedaloes, relaxation!
Access: Reached only by car, follow signposts from San Miguel.
